Foreign Minister meets the Egyptian Foreign Minister

Islamabad, 21 September 2021

Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with Mr. Sameh Hassan Shoukry, Foreign Minister of Egypt, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, today.

The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere. The two Ministers reviewed the entire spectrum of the bilateral relationship and agreed to enhance the frequency of bilateral political exchanges to foster understanding between the leadership and eventually the peoples of our brotherly countries.

The Ministers also exchanged views on important developments in the Middle East and Gulf region. Both the leaders emphasized the importance of finding peaceful solutions through diplomatic means.

Situation in Afghanistan also came under discussion between the two Foreign Ministers. The Foreign Minister apprised his Egyptian counterpart about continued humanitarian support by Pakistan in several ways for their Afghan brethren through air and land routes. He also stressed the need of sustained engagement with Afghanistan for the durable peace and stability in the region.

The two Ministers agreed to remain in close contact to upgrade bilateral cooperation in diverse fields. The Foreign Minister expressed the hope to receive Egyptian Foreign Minister in Pakistan soon for the upcoming session of the JMC.
