Pakistan’s flag hoisted at Pakistan House to mark Pakistan Day in New York.

New York, 23 March, 2018

Pakistan Day was celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm at Pakistan House here today with the hoisting of the national flag by the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi as the national anthem was played.

The ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Quraan. Ambassador Lodhi read out the Pakistan Day message of President Mamnoon Hussain and Raja Ali Ejaz, Consul General, New York read out the message of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi highlighted the importance of Pakistan Resolution and paid tributes to Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and the sacrifices made by the Muslims of the sub-continent for the creation of Pakistan.

She said that this is another milestone in Pakistan’s journey to greater prosperity and greater progress. Pakistan, she said, has come a long way since our founding fathers established an independent and sovereign state for the Muslims of South Asia.

“We are determined to translate our Quaid’s vision into reality and ensure that people get justice and are able to enjoy the fruits of development”, she added.

The Consul General recalled the services and sacrifices rendered by the founding fathers for the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of India.

The ceremony concluded by a ‘dua’ for the prosperity and progress of Pakistan.

All officers and staff of the Mission, the Consulate General and Pakistanis working at the United Nations attended the ceremony. Members of Pakistan’s armed forces serving as UN peacekeepers also joined the ceremony.
